The Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung, Part 2: Introduction to the Nature of Mind

Join us this December for Part 2 of The Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung as we explore the true nature of mind. This five-part series is the centerpiece of Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche’s dzogchen teachings and will be presented at Serenity Ridge each year at our Winter Retreat, concluding January 2019.

Part 2 includes the practice of zhiné as the skillful means to establish a calm abiding mind; the methods for stabilizing the resulting mindfulness through practices of sun and sky gazing and dark retreat; and guidance for recognizing experiences of rigpa—innate awareness. These meditation practices, including physical postures and eye gazes, introduce the practitioner to the nature of mind.

Prerequisite: It is essential to study and practice the chapters of the Experiential Transmission in sequence. Therefore, participants must have received the teachings for the Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung, Part 1: Ngöndro, before progressing to these Part 2 teachings. Practitioners who have already received the Ngondro or higher-level teachings in a previous teaching cycle of the Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung are warmly invited to attend this retreat.

The first opportunity to register will go to those who completed the 2014 winter retreat, followed by those who participated in the ngongdro retreat in spring 2015. General registration for all others will open Oct. 1, 2015.
