Khenpo Gelek Jinpa continues Dzogchen teachings based on Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyud in Helsinki on November 25-27, 2016. This is the third part of Gyalwa’i Chagtri Dzogchen teachings. You can attend even if you have not participated the first parts.
Bön buddhism has three major Dzogchen teachings and the oral transmission of Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyud is the most important of them. Druchen Gyalwa Yungdrung (1242-1290) wrote a practice manual called Gyalwa’i Chagtri, experiental instructions. This manual is nowadays used as a basis of Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyud teachings. It is said to contain all necessary practices. Traditionally these are studied over many years.
This time the teaching subject is Introduction to the Nature of Mind. The knowledge and skills learned here are applied in all parts of the cycle to come. In a deliberate and structured way, this part of the teachings presents the foundational practice of zhiné as the skillful means to develop a calm abiding mind; and give instructions for dark retreat, sky gazing, and sun gazing as skillful means to develop stability of the Natural State of Mind. These practices ultimately permit experiences of innate awareness, or rigpa. In turn, when experiences of innate awareness are developed and stabilized in a methodical way through meditation practice, they confirm the direction of the practitioner’s journey and allow it to naturally unfold.
We have a unique opportunity to receive these teachings from the senior disciple of H.E. Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, the lineage holder of Yungdrung Bön.
Khenpo Geshe Gelek Jinpa was born in 1967 in Eastern Tibet. He became a monk at 19 years of age and he received a geshe degree from Triten Norbutse monastery in Nepal in 2001. Currently, he is Khenpo of Shenten Dargye Ling in France.
