“The key to living fully, with joyful presence, is to relate intimately to the truth that sooner or later all life comes to an end.”

Death is inevitable and unavoidable and there is a tendency to deny our own mortality; however, this denial only serves to separate us from the vibrancy of living in the moment.

At Chamma Ling's Fall Retreat, held at the Blazing Mountain retreat center in Crestone, Colorado, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche will impart knowledge from Bon Buddhist teachings that offer methods for recognizing death as a doorway to opening the heart and achieving self-realization.

Participants will engage the luminous wisdom of impermanence and the importance of resolving conflicts with others, explore their relationship to death and the dying process, and learn how to promote a more peaceful and uplifting dying process for themselves and others.   Practical guidance will be offered for those who wish to assist a dying loved one physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Event Dates: We will begin at 9 a.m., Friday, September 18 and conclude mid-day Sunday, September 20.

Application Retreat: This retreat will be immediately followed by a three day retreat on applying the practices of death and dying led by Alejandro Chaoul. See full information about that retreat.

Retreat Location & Lodging: This three-day event will be held at Dharma Ocean’s Blazing Mountain Retreat Center in Crestone. We strongly encourage everyone to get the most of the retreat by staying at the housing facilities at Blazing Mountain, which are only a short walk to the meditation hall. A variety of rooms are available from a queen size bed with private bath to a four person bunk room. Chamma Ling must have a significant number staying on-site in order to meet to our contract. If you stay at Blazing Mountain, you will also have the option for breakfast and dinner in their facilities when you reserve your room.

Meals: Lunches Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be provided as part of the cost of registration. We will also provide a gala dinner Saturday evening. If you have any dietary restrictions please note them on the online registration form. If lunches are needed for children please note that also. Breakfast and dinner options are available if you stay at the housing at the Blazing Mountain Retreat Center.

Child Care: We are developing our plan for childcare during the retreat and will have options available. If you are in need of childcare please note the number and age of your children on the registration form.

Work Study: A limited number of work-study positions are available. To apply email Bea Ledyard. After approval, a discount code will be supplied for the registration process.

Sharing Rides: We have set up a Yahoo Group for people wishing to find or share rides to or from Crestone. It is necessary to create  Yahoo account to post to the ride board.

Auction: We are accepting donations of practice related objects that can be auctioned during our annual fundraiser, one of our main sources of revenue for new construction. If you have a special object you would like to donate place contact our auction coordinator, Andrea Heckman. Objects that empower Bön practice and devotion to the teachers are especially encouraged.

Cost: Registration fee $195 before September 1, $215 after.  Commuter meal plan: $81, full meal plan $117.
