Tibetan Bon and Buddhists around the world traditionally celebrate Losar during the first month of the lunar year, from new moon to full moon.  Within this period of new year’s celebration, Bonpos also commemorate the birthdays of Bon’s founder, Tonpa Shenrab Mi Wo Che, on the fifteenth day of the month, and the second Bon Tonpa (fully enlightened teacher), Nyamed Sherab Gyaltsen, on the fifth day of the month.

We will all gather together to celebrate Tibetan New Year combined with Nyamed Sherab Gyaltsen’s birthday and chant the Longevity mantra, a special prayer for a long life filled with blessings of health, positive energy and vitality. The first month of the lunar year is the traditional Tibetan time to offer prayers to the deity of prosperity, who brings continuous prosperity, abundance and good fortune to our lives.  Rinpoche extends a special invitation to those who would like to receive a blessing to help them cleanse all obstacles. Everyone is welcome to join in the festive and auspicious Losar Tibetan New Year Celebration, and the festival is appropriate for both newcomers and experienced Bon practitioners.
