MISSION:

The Ciamma Ling center in Wilga was established in 2004. Garuda Association is its legal manager. Spiritual aspects are cared for by Tibetan masters of the ancient tradition of Yungdrung Bön who teach there a few times a year.  The key objective of the center is to provide an appropriate location and the best conditions possible for the teaching and practice of teachings of the Bön tradition. The center is also open for people following other Buddhist traditions as well as for all the activities aimed at the support of the spiritual development of individuals and organized groups. The center is open throughout the year. Retreats lasting a few months or a few years can be planned.

LOCATION, ACCESS, CONDITIONS

The center is located in a pine forest , 60 km from Warsaw in the direction of Puławy. A clear lake, Wilga and Vistula rivers are located nearby and the entire area is a typical holiday resort. It is an excellent place for biking excursions and walks (along the Vistula flood bank and on the nearby forest paths).  The Chamma Ling center occupies nearly 4 ha. It consists of 31 guest cottages, a canteen, a café, playground for children and a few utility buildings (including a sauna) and a car park.  There are 130 beds available in cottages (2-3 and 4-5 persons per house) with a bathroom and toilet in each cottage. Common showers, toilets and a kitchen with electric sockets and a gas stove are available for those staying in tents. The heating in cottages is available throughout the year. The access to the Internet is also possible. The consumption of alcohol and other stimulants is prohibited in the center.

THE STUPA AND THE GOMPA

A large Gompa – the place of meditation and contemplation – and a few meters’ high stupa symbolizing the enlightened mind of the Buddha are located in the central place in the area. Prayer flags are attached to its top. A small Gompa is located nearby; it serves as a place for meditations and retreats with a smaller number of participants taking place throughout the year. There is also a cottage for dark retreats here.

EXECUTION PLANS

In addition to the provision of funds for the construction of the gompa, we also try to systematically complete the most necessary cleaning and renovation works.

In particular, significantly worn cottages being the remnants of the communist times require an overhaul. Very high investments are needed for that purpose; this is why we slowly carry out the necessary renovation works (protecting cottages from destruction and, e.g. introduction of the cheaper and effective heating – we have recently managed to purchase and install a few stoves fueled with wood.
Additionally, we plan the renovation of the small gompa so as to make it available throughout the year, mainly in winter and in cooler seasons of the year. That project assumes, in particular, the installation of good heat insulation in the room and minimization of heating costs, which are very high in our center because we use the electric heating. Key assumptions of the project include the insulation of walls and the floor and the adaptation of rooms at the back of the gompa.
    Other plans:
    – designing a garden by the entry gate
    – distinguishing a contemplation part and a recreation part (including a new playground for children)
    – designing green areas around cottages
    – setting out new alleys and cleanup of existing paths.

Persons who voluntarily help with the ad hoc renovations and cleaning take care for the maintenance of the center. We are asking you for your support because there is still a lot to be done.
