Dolpo Bon Society is a non-profitable organization. It main objective is to educate poor children of Dolpo and to save heritage of Bonpo. The vision is to ensure that the Bon as a religion and culture revives and continues to flourish in the changing times by fulfilling the needs of Dolpo people with positive changes in their livelihood.

Dolpo is one of the most remote district of Nepal. The district is rich in its culture and traditions. The oldest culture ‘Bon’ one of the richest cultures flourished here more than a thousand years ago. The big clustures of Bon society are found in different villages of Dolpo. There are around ten big Bon Monasteries and several small ones within the district. Mostly the monasteries are tantrik headed by their respective lineage holder.


Realizing the facts, all the Bonpo lamas of Dolpo and representatives of monasteries of the region had several conferences and came to a conclusion that a welfare society to be formed. Finally, a non-profit organization was formed as Dolpo Bon Society in 2001 and registered in the District Administration Office.

Vision:

Ensure that the Bon as a religion and culture revives and continues to flourish in the changing times by fulfilling the needs of Dolpo people with positive changes in their livelihood.
Objectives:

  • Preservation of Bon spiritual tradition and religion.
  • To open schools to provide both traditional and modern education to Dolpo children.
  • Renovation of old Bon monasteries.
  • To build traditional education centers of herbal medicine, astronomy, astrology and paintings.
  • To promote peace and infrastructural need for the welfare of Dolpo region.

Activities:

Till now the following works are completed:

  • Erection of Stupa.
  • Completion of school’s infrastructures.
  • Completion of hostel building.
  • Completion of Dining and Prayer hall
  • This year a big Wang Puja was performed for five days with the presence of H.H Menri Ponlob Trinley Nyima Rinpoche. The dinning and prayer hall inauguration was also held at the same time.

Future Plans: (2014-2015)

  • Establishment of library,
  • Installation of Solar.
