We are honored to have H.E. Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche join us at Serenity Ridge for this special weekend retreat focused on the Dzogchen Yetri Thasel.  He will teach on the chapter of the pith instruction of the khandros (female enlightened beings). The weekend will include a combination of teaching and practice.

H.E. Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche is the abbot (khenpo) of Triten Norbutse Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal, one of the two main Bon monasteries outside of Tibet.
It is rare to find a recorded lineage of female teachers in the Bon or Buddhist tradition. The Dzogchen Yetri Thasel includes a succession of women from throughout central and inner Asia who received precious dzogchen teachings and went on to achieve enlightenment.  Their wisdom has been passed down in an unbroken lineage of practitioners. The pith instructions were collected and written down by eighth century Bonpo master Drenpa Namkha.

This teaching has only been given in the West a few times, and we are honored that Khen Rinpoche is offering this teaching at Serenity Ridge. We hope you will join us for this rare occasion.

H.E. Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, most senior teacher in the Bon tradition, has previously taught on the topic in the West and is the author of the book Heart Essence of the Khandro: Experiential Instructions on Bonpo Dzogchen – Thirty Signs and Meanings from Women Lineage-Holders. The book is on order and is expected to be available by April 8 through Ligmincha International’s Tibet Shop.

H.E. Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche is the abbot (khenpo) of Triten Norbutse Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal, one of the two main Bon monasteries outside of Tibet. Born in 1969 in Dhorpatan, a remote area of western Nepal, he received his geshe degree from Menri Monastery in Dolanji, India. In 1986, Khen Rinpoche began teaching philosophy and general Tibetan sciences to younger students. After graduating, he went to Kathmandu to further his studies of tantra and dzogchen under the guidance of His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. In 1996 His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche, the 33rd Menri Trizin, and H.E. Yongdzin Rinpoche appointed Khen Rinpoche as ponlob (principal teacher) of Triten Norbutse Monastery. In 2001, he was appointed as khenpo of the monastery by His Holiness and His Eminence.
