Ligmincha was founded in 1992 in order to preserve the ancient teachings, transmissions and practices of the Tibetan Bon Buddhist tradition. As the indigenous religion of Tibet and one of the world's most ancient unbroken spiritual traditions, the Bon tradition has a rich and unique heritage. Toward achieving this goal Ligmincha aims to introduce these traditions in an authentic manner to the Western world, in such a way that they remain beneficial when integrated into modern Western culture.
The Board of Directors sets the mission and vision for Ligmincha Institute. The board appoints members of the all-volunteer Ligmincha Council and hires staff to run Serenity Ridge.
